Privacy

Short version: Speaketti listens and translates on your Mac. Your voice and your words never leave it. It only goes online to check your licence and look for updates.

The app

• Speaketti only records while you hold the key (Fn by default) or while hands-free recording is on. The audio is turned into text on your Mac and then thrown away. It's never saved or uploaded.
• Speech recognition and translation run on your Mac, using models that ship inside the app. They work with Wi-Fi off.
• Your dictation history (the text, not the audio) is saved in ~/Library/Application Support/Speaketti. You can delete entries, or set history to keep 7 or 30 days, in Settings.
• What you say and the text it becomes are never sent anywhere. There's no account, no analytics, no crash reporting and no AI service.
• The app talks to speaketti.com for two things only. When you activate a licence, and then about once a week, it checks your licence by sending your licence key, a random ID Speaketti made up for this Mac, and the app version. About once a day it checks for updates (you can turn this off in Settings). Like any web request, these share your IP address with our host, Cloudflare.
• Speaketti asks for two macOS permissions. Microphone lets it hear you. Accessibility lets it notice the key you hold and type the text where your cursor is. To get the spacing right and check the text went in, it looks at the characters next to your cursor in the field you're typing in. That stays on your Mac and isn't saved.

This website

The site is a few static pages. It doesn't use cookies or ad trackers. We count visits with Cloudflare Web Analytics, which is cookie-free and doesn't identify you: it tells us how many people visited and which pages they read, nothing more.

Buying

Payments are handled by Stripe. We never see your card number. Stripe shares your name, email, country and purchase details with us, which we use to send your licence key and download link and to handle refunds. We keep your email, your licence key and the random IDs of the Macs that activated it, so we can get your key back to you if you lose it and switch it off if the purchase is refunded. Licence emails are sent through Resend.

Email

If you email us, we keep the conversation so we can help you. We don't send marketing email.

Sharing

We don't sell or share your information with anyone, apart from the services above that we need to run Speaketti.
